Martinsville, IN - Jon Maurer Byers, 70, formerly of West Point and had been residing in Martinsville, IN, passed away at Meadow Lakes in Mooresville, IN on Thursday, November 13, 2025 at 1:30 a.m.
Jon was born in Home Hospital, Lafayette, Indiana on August 20, 1955.  He was raised in West Point, graduating from Southwestern High School in 1974.  He has lived most of his life in West Point and has resided in Martinsville for the past few years.
Jon formerly worked at the West Point CO-Op and Sohigro in West Point.  He later worked as a diesel mechanic for Hanthorn's Truck Repair in Shadeland, IN an later for Oscar Winski in Lafayette.  He retired from Aclee Trucking in Lafayette.
Jon was an excellent cook and baker.  He was the version of a social butterfly, interacting with friends and strangers.  He never met a stranger-was  always upbeat and positive, even when his health was failing.
Jon was formerly married to Jeanne Kane and later Sharon May Fuqua.
He leaves behind the love of his life, his daughter, Medley Byers, Indianapolis; two brothers, Dennis (Holly) Byers, Attica and Donald Byers, Florida; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jon donated locks of his hair to "Locks of Love" and his pacemaker to the Purdue University Animal Science Department.  As per his request, cremation services were accorded him, with no immediate plans for a memorial service at this time.
