Attica - Julie Ann (Wrigley) Smith, 66, formerly of Hoopeston, IL and had been residing in Attica, passed away in the St. Vincent Williamsport Hospital on Thursday, September 3, 2020 at 11:43 a.m.
Julie was born in Akron, Ohio on February 19, 1954. She was the daughter of the late Richard and Meri (Wakefield) Wrigley. Julie grew up in Cuyahoga Falls, OH where she graduated from high school. She later received her LPN degree from the nursing school in Bloomington, IL. While living in New York, Julie worked in the Greenwich Woods Nursing Center in
Greenwich, CT. She later worked for the Veterans Administration Hospital in Connecticut. After moving to the Hoopeston, IL area, Julie worked in the Heritage Healthcare Center there in Hoopeston.
Julie was raised in the Catholic faith. She loved animals and enjoyed rescuing animals, especially dachshunds. Julie's favorite quote was by Gilda Radner - "I think that dogs are the most amazing creatures; they give unconditional love. For me they are the role model for being alive." After her retirement, Julie enjoyed working for Wiggie Wireless in Milford, IL as a tech support. Her other hobbies were reading and journaling.
After meeting George Sterling Smith in Bloomington, IL, Julie and George were married on April 26, 1987 in Hoopeston, IL. George just recently preceded her in death on June 20, 2020.
Julie leaves behind two step daughters, Jennifer (the late Martin) Massoff, Richmond, IN and Lisa (Steve) Foster, Fishers, IN; a step son, Benjamin Smith, Tennessee; eight step-grandchildren; a brother, John Wrigley, Ravenna, OH.
As per Julie's request, cremation services will be accorded her.  Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the ASPCA.
