Lafayette - Karen Sue (Penick) Krooswyk, 81, Lafayette, passed away unexpectedly in the emergency room of the Franciscan Health East Hospital, Lafayette, on Friday, February 23, 2024 at 10:42 p.m.
Karen was born in Kramer, in Warren County, Indiana on September 12, 1942.  She was the daughter of the late Carlton Loyd and Viola Jean (Solomon) Penick.  Karen was raised in Lake County, Indiana and attended Calumet High School.  She later moved to Lafayette in 1973.
Karen worked as a customer service representative for the Lowes Store in Lafayette until her retirement.
She enjoyed garage sales and loved the time spent with her family.
Karen leaves behind six children, Kenny Krooswyk, Lafayette; Kevin Krooswyk, Ingalls, IN; Kent Krooswyk, Lafayette; Kim Wilson, Lafayette; Karl Krooswyk, Waynetown and Todd Krooswyk, Lafayette; four siblings, Mary Lou Kienzynski, Bloomfield, IN; Pam Lowell, Lafayette; Robert Penick, Crofton, MD and Becky Fish, Lafayette; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by an infant brother, Carl Gene Penick.
Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Friday, March 1st from 11:00 a.m. until service time at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Jerry Badgley officiating.  Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery, Attica.
