How do you bury a superhero?  There's little argument that, for many, their mom is their hero.  But our mom was a superhero.  Like a true superhero, she cheated that great villain death over and over.  Each time she battled, she emerged stronger and had more love, guidance, and wisdom to share with her family.  Karen Sue Kinnamon McFadden went home to the Lord on Tuesday March 21, 2023.  She passed peacefully at Methodist Hospital, cared for by their excellent hospice team.

There is no end to the number of people influenced by Karen.  From her early beginnings in Attica, Indiana, through travels to California, the births of her kids and her early career as an Executive Secretary both at Purdue University and National Homes, Karen changed lives through her relentless love and irrepressible presence.  Everyone longs to leave a legacy and Karen's legacy is known through many lives.  She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Bob McFadden of Greendale, Indiana, her 8 children, Tim (Teresa) McFadden of Monticello, IN, Kayleen Banschbach of Franklin, IN, Jodie (Dave) Patty of Monticello, IN, Kenny (Katie) Kimbrell of New Richmond, Ohio, Susan Pastor of Washington, Missouri, John (Jill) Kimbrell, Monticello, IN, Bobby (Tonya) McFadden, Franklin, IN, and Melany Longo, Greendale, IN.

In addition to the generations of her children, there are 28 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren to carry on the legacy of her love.  All these individuals do not cover the scope of her influence as there are dozens of surrogate children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who benefited from mom's wit, wisdom, love, and guidance.  Known also for her love of animals, Karen's childhood horse, Snowball, and a litany of dogs through the years always provided comfort and blessings for Karen.

As her children became independent, Karen embarked on a 30-year career owning her own business.  Through that business, UnderCoverWear, Karen and Bob were blessed to travel the world and have ten lifetimes of memories from their many trips.  The dozens of trips included stops all over Europe, parts of Asia, South America, the Caribbean, Hawaii, and many other beautiful destinations.

How do you bury a superhero?  In reality, they are never buried.  Their lasting, heroic exploits live on from generation to generation

Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Friday, March 24, from 1:00 pm until service time at 3:00 pm.  Cremation will follow.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Indiana.
