Attica - Keith Allen Laughlin, 72, of Attica, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at 1:53 p.m. in the Ascension St. Vincent Kokomo Hospital.
Keith was born in Vincennes, Indiana on October 1, 1953. He was the son of the late Dale Xlay Laughlin and Virginia Lee (Smith) Petty and step father, "Micky" C. Petty. At the age of two he moved to Hammond, Indiana. He later moved to Florida at the age of 17, where he attended Auburndale High School.
While living in Hammond, Keith attended the First Baptist Church and was baptized, at the age of seven, by Pastor Jack Hyles. Keith studied the Bible and memorized several verses and could recite them to many people that he came in contact while visiting. He was very strong in his faith, and enjoyed visiting the different churches in Attica on Sunday.
While living in Attica, he worked as a farm hand for Dean Foster in Shawnee Township for many years. Following his work as a farm hand, Keith enjoyed helping out at Crossroads Restaurant and the Moose Lodge in Attica. He was a member of the Moose Lodge # 1482 of Attica. He enjoyed going to garage sales, thrift stores and Trader Bucks in Lafayette to find a good bargain. Keith was known to share his good fortunes with others. If you knew Keith very well, you would be honored with one of his bargain gifts that he thought you would like. Keith had a big heart and would give you the shirt off of his back. He enjoyed going out to eat with friends. He was a frequent visitor of Crossroads Restaurant where he enjoyed a cup of coffee and visiting with the locals. He liked to watch movies, going for drives, listening to music, playing the piano and his harmonica. He had a love for animals, especially his cats that he acquired through the years.
Keith was formerly married to Pamela K. Kirby. He leaves behind a daughter, Lea Ann Laughlin-Froetschner, Ellinwood, KS; a granddaughter, Nicole Lea Ann (companion-Logan Norman) Curtice; Great Bend, KS; a grandson, Dakota Phillip Vaughn, Kansas; a great-grandson, Baylor Lee Mitchell Norman, Great Bend, KS; five siblings, Dixie (Neil) Welch, DeMotte, IN; Verna (Larry) Beckett, Winter Haven, FL; Russell Dale Laughlin, Eagle Lake, FL; his twin, Karen Sue Rose, Hammond, IN and Linda (Chuck) Fogarty, Highland, IN; Friends, Heather Stonebraker & Dennis & his very special friend, Bonnie Childress and his pet cat, Lucky.
His strength and resilience is what got him through all of the rough times in his life and he never gave up without a fight. His faith in God was strong and he never missed an opportunity to share the good word with others and tried to lead them to a better way in their life.
