Lafayette - L. Suzanne (Opperman) Clinton, 71, formerly of Attica and had been residing in Lafayette, passed away on Monday, September 21, 2026 at 11:29 a.m. in the St. Anthony Healthcare Center, Lafayette, with her husband and family by her side.
Suzanne, as she was known to family and friends, was born in Williamsport, Indiana on May 2, 1955. She was the daughter of Donald Warren Opperman and the late Bonnie Lea (Fishel) Opperman. She was raised in Attica, graduating from Attica High School in 1973. She graduated from Ivy Tech College with a degree in nursing. She has resided in Lafayette for over 40 years. While living in Lafayette, Suzanne worked as a registered nurse at the Indiana Veterans Home and later as a traveling nurse. Her final job was a night supervisor for the Logansport State Hospital until she suffered a stroke and became disabled. She was a member of the Pentecostal Church of God in Lafayette. She enjoyed working on her computer, taking rides through the countryside to see the beauty of nature and also being the grammar police, having never lost her quick wit. Suzane married Bruce A. Clinton on April 9, 1988 in the Lafayette Pentecostal Church. Suzanne had a very strong faith and always praised and thanked the Lord, even through her physical challenges. She leaves behind her husband, Bruce of 38 years along with a son, Christian “Chris” Goetz, Missouri; a grandson, Christian Marcello Goetz, California; her father, Donald W. Opperman, Lowell, IN; a brother, Warren (Barb) Opperman, St. John, IN and a sister, DeNelda (Colin) Niemiec, Attica; and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Bonnie Lea Opperman and a sister, Debbie (late Rick) Bixler. The family would like to thank the nurses and aides at St. Anthony Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, Franciscan Health Lafayette and Franciscan Hospice Care for the care and comfort provided to Suzanne for her last few months. As per Suzanne’s request, cremation services were accorded her and a memorial gravesite service will be held in the Riverside Cemetery, Attica on Saturday, October 17th at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Chris Black officiating. Memorial contributions may be made in Suzanne’s memory to the Lafayette Pentecostal Church, 3616 S. 9th St., Lafayette, IN 47909.
