Covington - Larry Richard Voorhees, 72, Covington, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Covington on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at 8:40 a.m.
Larry was born in Crawfordsville, Indiana on May 24, 1947. He was the son of the late Wilbur Dean Voorhees and Barbara Lucille (Cox) Wiseman. Larry was raised in Hillsboro, graduating from Hillsboro High School in 1964. He was a life resident of Fountain County and had been residing in Covington since the early 90's. Larry was a certified tradesman and was a member of the IUOE Local # 841. He worked for 30 years with the Community Action Program in Fountain County.
Larry enjoyed building model cars and working on and restoring classic cars. His preference of classic cars was muscle cars of the 60's.
Larry was formerly married to Katie (Covault) Johnson of Attica.
Larry leaves behind four children, Scott (Shay) Voorhees, Melissa (companion-Paul Combs) Simmons, Shelly Herndon, all of Attica; Chad (Jen Mymy) Voorhees, U.S. Army stationed in South Korea; Shaun Voorhees of Lafayette who was raised like a son; four brothers, Joe Voorhees and Mike (Deb) Voorhees, both of Veedersburg; Jim Voorhees, Crawfordsville and Jerry (Joanne) Voorhees, Hillsboro; two sisters, Betty (Mike) Gardland, Deer Park, TX and Mary Ann (Gary) Townsend, Crawfordsville; ten grandchildren, Christopher and Andrew Voorhees; Chauncie (fiancé-Clint Pepmeier) Simmons, Dalton Simmons,  Kayla Herndon, Dillon Voorhees,  Ryan Voorhees, Richard Voorhees , twins Vivian and Daniel Voorhees. He was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Ray Voorhees.
Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Sunday, November 24th, from 11:00 a.m. until service time at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Dan Jordan officiating. Burial will follow in the Kingman Fraternal Cemetery, Kingman, IN.
