Marshfield, IN-Laura Jane Morlan (Crowder), passed away at Autumn Trace Assisted Living in Attica, IN  on June 14, 2026, at the age of 96.
She was born June 18, 1929, to the late Marvin and Eliza (Woods) Crowder.  She grew up in Williamsport, IN, and graduated from Williamsport High School in 1947, receiving a Good Citizenship Certificate from the DAR.  She married Melvin Lewis Morlan on September 12, 1947.  They established residence in Marshfield, IN, and celebrated 61 years together.  Jane, as she was know to all, was a member of the Marshfield Presbyterian Church during most of her married life, and later attended Williams Chapel in State Line, IN, and West Lebanon Christian Church.
Jane was active in many community organizations over the years, including The Williamsport Bunco Club, Steuben Home Economics, and Junior Women's Club.  She was a Warren County 4-H leader, treasurer of the Marshfield Presbyterian Church, and a Sunday School teacher as well as worked at the Williamsport Hospital gift shop.  She was an excellent seamstress as well as an accomplished quilter.
In 1964, Jane was appointed Marshfield Postmaster, and spent the next 28 years serving the communities of Marshfield and State Line.  Beyond her career, Jane was known for being a wonderful person and a friend to many.  She always had a smile and a friendly greeting for those she saw at the Post Office or out and about in the community.  Her greatest joy, however, was her family.  Her two daughters, her grandson and granddaughter, and her great grandson were her pride and joy.  Additionally, Jane held a special place in her heart for Connie &  Dick Mikels, Raymond and Carol Byers, Bonnie and Gary Myers, and their families.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Melvin, her son-in-law, David Lindsey, as well as her siblings:  Viola Roman, Barbara Sue Holliman, Everett Crowder, Forest Wayne Crowder and twins Wendell & Rendell Crowder.
She is survived by her two children:  Melody Lindsey, and Gail Muller (Ron) as well as her grandchildren, Aaron Altman (Sara), and Laura Lindsey, and her great grandson, Jude Lindsey.
Friends may call at the West Lebanon Christian Church, 201 S. Clinton St., West Lebanon on Saturday, June 20th from 11:00 a.m. until the service time at 1:00 p.m. with Pastors Bruce Thornsbrough and Randy Cunningham officiating.  Burial will follow in the West Lebanon Cemetery.
Memorials and remembrances can be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, West Lebanon Christian Church or Williams Chapel-Johnsonville.
