West Point - Linda M. (Dowell) Bilyeu, 75, formerly of West Point and more recently residing in Amboy, Indiana, passed away in the IU Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at 2:32 p.m.
Linda was born in Lafayette, Indiana on July 31, 1946. She was the daughter of the late Roy and Myrtle (Griffin) Dowell. She was a life resident of Tippecanoe County and had recently moved to Amboy one year ago. She was a 1964 graduate of Southwestern High School.
Her family was very special to her and she spent her time as a homemaker. Linda enjoyed cooking for family and friends; gardening, mowing her lawn, bird watching and playing dice or card games. She enjoyed watching movies and meeting family and friends at either Arni's or McDonalds for talks and a lot of laughs.
She was a member of the West Point United Methodist Church. Her life revolved around her family.
On June 26, 1965 Linda married Arthur "Art" G. Bilyeu in West Lafayette, IN.
Linda leaves behind her husband, Art of 56 years along with their three children, Cindy (Jeff) Cade, West Point; Brian (Shari) Bilyeu, Amboy, IN and Roy (Jenny) Bilyeu, Lafayette; three sisters, Kate Wright, Shadeland; Carol (Arne) Nangle, Lafayette and Judy (Harold) Riddle, Lafayette;  a sister-in-law, Mary Beth Dowell; six grandchildren, Levi (Emily) Bilyeu, Melia Bilyeu, Jordanna (fiancé-Conner Beidelman) Bilyeu, Tyler Bilyeu, Serena Cade and Cassandra "Cassie" Cade; five great-grandchildren. Ivan, Fletcher, Ervin, Riverlin and Everly. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Albert "Bud" Dowell, Bill Dowell, Donnie Dowell and Delbert Dowell along with five sisters, Helen Berninger, Mary Ritchie, Thelma Venable, Mae Clouse and an infant sister, Betty Dowell.
Friends will be received at the West Point United Methodist Church on Saturday, October 30th, from 12:00 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. with Pastors Russ Alley and Vernon Stover officiating. Burial will follow in the West Point Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the West Point United Methodist Church or to the Lung Transplant Department of the IU Methodist Hospital.
