Mellott - Lois P. (Salts) Kochell, 90, formerly of Mellott and had been residing in Whitlock Place, Crawfordsville, passed away in Whitlock Place on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at 6:50 a.m.
Lois was born at home near Marshfield in Warren County, Indiana on March 6, 1932. She was the daughter of the late William Dewey and Dorothy Irene (Butler) Salts. She was raised in Covington, graduating from Covington High School in 1950. She later moved to Mellott in 1964 until just recently moving to Crawfordsville.
Lois worked at the Pizza King in Hillsboro since 1984 and purchased the business in 1988 and continued operating the business until she retired in 1999.
Lois loved to work outdoors where she enjoyed mowing and working in her flower beds. She was a meticulous housekeeper and enjoyed keeping her home spotless. She enjoyed taking a ride on Saturday's and getting a diet coke at whatever local McDonalds she found.
Lois married Glen C. Kochell Jr on August 26, 1950 in Attica. Glen preceded her in death on July 5, 1995.
Lois leaves behind her two daughters, Becki (Darrin) Reynolds and Vicki Wilkinson, both of Hillsboro; a son-in-law, Alan Foxworthy, Hillsboro; seven grandchildren, Jennifer (Bryan) Hall, Desireé (Scott) Peevler, Melissa (Chris) Ayers, Brandon (Heather) Wilkinson, Mitchell (Julia) VanCleave, Joey (Fad Mohammed) VanCleave and Jake (Taylor Marshall) VanCleave; nine great-grandchildren, Tristain, Corwyn, Baydin, Ellis, Braelynn, Wyatt, Chloe, Wyatt and Noah. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Pam Foxworthy; a granddaughter, Summer Star Cheesman and three brothers, Charles, Paul and Ralph Salts.
A service for Lois will be held at the Maus Funeral Home in Hillsboro on Friday, February 3rd at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Greg McDonald officiating. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Hillsboro.
