Attica - Lois Virginia (Johnson) Martin, 92, Attica, passed away in the Creasy Springs Health Campus, Lafayette, on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 7:46 p.m.
Lois was born in Williamsport, Indiana on September 14, 1930. She was the daughter of the late Jesse Griffin and Nell Elizabeth (Belangea) Johnson. She was raised in Williamsport, graduating from Williamsport High School in 1948.
On August 22, 1948, Lois married her high school sweetheart Robert Floyd Martin in Attica. He preceded her in death on June 13, 2015.
In 1948 they moved to the farm in rural Attica where they made their living and raised their children. In 1983 Robert and their son, Brad (with much assistance from many family members) built the house they lived in until their deaths. They were married 66 years.
Lois leaves behind three children, Janet (Doug) Oliver, Colfax, IL; Judy (Perry) Schnarr, Lafayette and Bradley (Marceita) Martin, Attica; a brother, Don Johnson, Crawfordsville; ten grandchildren, Elizabeth (Mark) Kessinger, Colfax, IL; Mike (Cindi) Oliver, Oxford, AL; Heather (Richard) West, Stilesville, IN; Kathleen (André) Karamanian, Durham, NC; Connie (Jon) Bushong, Attica; Bob (Hannah Lesley) Martin, Kingsport, TN; Ashleay (Kendall) Briles, Attica; Brandon (Kaitlin) Beard, Attica; Brock Beard, Attica and Brenna (Clayton Lear) Beard, Monticello, IN; thirteen great-grandchildren, Brandon Kessinger, Jonathan Spears, Chase Spears, Wyatt Rayburn, Montana Rayburn, Jaxon Bushong, Luke West, Brooke West, Autumn Karamanian, Hazel Karamanian, Remi Beard, Jo Garrison and Nic Garrison; two sisters-in-law, Marcia Boles and Esther Conklin; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Johnson and a sister, Margaret Swank.
Lois loved sitting in the porch swing, sipping iced tea with her family. She loved her family and was a great cook. She made the best noodles. She never knew who Dad would bring home to eat, but she always made room for them at our table. Our family loved her dearly.
