Attica - Lois Jean (Armour) Peterson was born March 4, 1944 in West Suburban Hospital, Oak Park, IL to Leslie Cortez Armour and Mary Elizabeth Murphy Armour.  She graduated from Proviso East High School in 1962.  After high school, Lois moved to Los Angeles for one year.  She then came home to Illinois working for United Airlines at EXO (O'Hare) Airport.
Lois married Gerald (Jerry) Peterson in 1964 and moved to Attica, Indiana.
She worked at Attica Consolidated School Corporation from 1978 to 2008.  Serving most of her tenure as the Secretary to the Superintendent.
Lois embraced country life after having grown up in the city.  She was an avid gardener, horse woman, and could cook and bake better than anyone. But it was her patience, kindness and the love of her family, blood, and chosen that she will be most remembered.
Lois is survived by three children.  Kimberly Peterson of Terre Haute, Timothy (Vickie) Peterson of Indianapolis and Dale (Michalina) Peterson of Attica.  And Bonus Daughter Melissa McGraw Allison.
Six grandchildren: Drake Hagerman, Audrey (Wayde) Reisinger, Carole (Jordan) Ross, Ella Peterson, Libby Peterson, and Molly Peterson.
Two step-grandchildren: Kyle Hagerman and Carla Street.
Three great grandchildren: Kennedy, Charli, and Lillian.
Two step-great grandchildren: Hayla and Tionna.
Her sisters, Marie Mende of Joliet, IL and Dorothy (Jerry) Ethridge of Tuscon, AZ.  Sisters-in-law; Rosemary (Mike) Layton and Linda (Andy) Smart; along with several Nieces and Nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, her parents, Brother Bert Armour, sister Althea Kojder, two nephews Tim Armour and James Kojder, niece Kristi Keating and sister-in-law Jackie Brier.
A memorial will be held on Sunday, March 9, 2025 at the First Lutheran Church in Attica at 1:00 pm with service beginning at 2:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Attica First Lutheran Church.
