Surrounded by loved ones, Marcia Jean (Booe) Goings, 75, of New Richmond, IN went on to be with the Lord on March 9th, 2023. Marcia was born on September 7th, 1947 in (Danville, IL) to the late Russell Jr. and Janice (Craig) Booe of Veedersburg, IN.
Marcia graduated from Veedersburg High School in 1965. She attended beauty school and went on to work as a beautician in Veedersburg. She married Forrest (Sonny) Goings on April 6th, 1968 where they lived on their farm near New Richmond, IN. Sonny and Marcia raised 4 children; Angela (Jason) Hankins, Dawn (Shad) Meadows, Alan Goings, Curtis (Rachel) Goings, all of the New Richmond area.
As a devoted farm wife and mother, Marcia continued her beautician business for another 44 years in the shop added onto their home by her husband and father-in-law. Marcia had a kind, genuine soul and truly cared for her customers. Her weeks were full of raising her children, cooking, laundry, gardening and on Thursdays and Fridays, taking care of her customers.
Marcia loved running County Line Greenhouse on the farm for over 25 years. Her best employees were her grandchildren as she enjoyed teaching them how to transplant, water and care for plants. Visiting with her customers is what she enjoyed most. You could often find Marcia on her golfcart with grandkids or grand dogs driving from the house to the greenhouse and checking her gardens.
Marcia was a lifelong supporter of Jackson Heights United Methodist Church and New Hope Chapel of Wingate where she organized for Easter lilies and Christmas poinsettias to decorate the churches and local businesses each season.
Marcia and Sonny built a loving homestead where family and friends enjoyed gathering throughout the year. From a full house on the holidays to Sunday gatherings under a tree on the swing with Sonny, she found joy in the simplest moments. She cherished having her kids and grandkids nearby where all were always welcome to stop in. Each year Marcia put out a large garden that she tended to all summer to have produce to can that fall. In later years, when not on the farm you would find Sonny and Marcia at events supporting their grandchildren.
Marcia was a strong, hardworking woman known for her sweet smile and caring heart. She loved all of her family dearly. She will be missed by her family: Grandchildren: Lacey (Daniel) Raub, Grant, Avery, & Lauren Hankins, Cody, Morgan, Colton and Corbin Meadows, Case and Molly Goings. Great-Grandchild: William Raub Nephew: Craig (Karen) Rogers Great-Nephew: Colten Glover.
Preceded in death by: Marilyn Henricks (sister), Maddy Jean Meadows (granddaughter), Linda Glover (niece).
Marcia was one of the best. She was a terrific wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. And a friend to all.
Friends may call at the New Hope Chapel of Wingate, 105 W. Main St., Wingate, IN on Tuesday, March 14th, from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Services will be held in the Church on Wednesday, March 15th, at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Duane Mycroft officiating. Burial will follow in the Sugar Grove Cemetery near New Richmond. Memorial contributions may be made to the Riley Children's Hospital or to the New Hope Chapel of Wingate.
