Attica - Margaret June (Hanselman) Swanson, 90, of Attica, passed away in the Autumn Trace Assisted Living in Attica, on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at 1:18 a.m.
June, as she was known to family and friends, was born as a twin at home near Riverside, Indiana on June 16, 1931. She was the daughter of the late Rupert Guy and Alta Iola (Olmstead) Hanselman. She was raised in the Riverside area of Fountain County, graduating from Attica High School in 1949. June was a hard worker, assisting her husband with the farm chores along with raising a family. She was noted for her excellent cinnamon rolls and pies and her volunteering at the local nursing centers. She had lots of energy and enjoyed dancing. She also had cleaned for various families in the area. She had been a long time member of the Attica First Lutheran Church.
On October 15, 1951, June married Leonard M. Swanson in the Attica First Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death on May 2, 1991.
June leaves behind two sons, Randy (Lisa) Swanson, Daphne, AL and Steve (Brenda) Swanson, Norton Shores, MI; a brother, Ronald Hanselman, Attica; eight grandchildren, Angela (Damon) Galloway; Ben (Lindsey) Crain; Kelsie (James) Coree; Emily (Matt) Girdler; Erik Swanson; Jenna (Matthew) Blythe; Kristofer (Jillyn) Swanson and Nickolas (Leah) Swanson; ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Andrew "Drew" Swanson; a great-granddaughter, Isabella Swanson; an infant brother, Russell Glen Hanselman; three sisters, her twin, Marjorie Joan Peterson; Inez Emery and Pauline Elston.
Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Sunday, August 8th, from 12:00 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Will Peugeot officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery, Attica. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
