Lafayette - Marilyn Sue (Collins) Thrush, 74, Lafayette, passed away in the St. Mary Healthcare, Lafayette, on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at 1:43 a.m.
Marilyn was born at home in Frankfort, Indiana on November 3, 1946. She was the daughter of the late Vollie E. and Betty Jane (Leming) Collins. After several moves, Marilyn was raised in the Clarks Hill area and graduated from Lauramie High School in 1964.
Early in her career, Marilyn worked with special needs children in Hershey Elementary and East Tipp Middle schools. She later worked in the Audio-Visual Department within the library at Harrison High School. Her last employment was with Purdue University as an Administrative Assistant, working until her retirement in 2011.
She was a member of the West Lafayette First United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Epsilon Sigma Alpha Service Sorority in Lafayette and earned an Award from St. Jude Children's Research Hospital for the large donation given through the service sorority. In her early years she served as a Brownie Leader, a Girl Scout leader, Girl Scout Cookie Chairman and Secretary/Treasurer of the PTA. She loved country music, watching movies, dancing and especially going to the Collins/Floyd Family Reunions. She loved spending countless hours on her back patio porch, watching the birds and the bird houses that she provided. She was an avid euchre player and enjoyed the games she played with her grandchildren and other friends in the community. She was very fond of and will miss her pet dog, Nugget.
Marilyn leaves behind her daughters, Joy A. (Larry) Boberg, Lake in the Hills, IL and Kelly Breitlander, Lafayette; a sister, Carolyn (Raymond) Mahoy, Leesburg, FL and a brother, Charles Meihls, Bruceton, TN; five grandchildren, Konnor Breitlander, Kristian Breitlander, Kennedy Breitlander, Laura Boberg and Andrew Boberg.
A memorial gathering will be held at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica on Saturday, May 8th, from 12:00 p.m. until the memorial service time at 2:00 p.m. with Chaplain Erik Lightner officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Riverside Cemetery, Attica. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Soul Harbour Ranch, 22093 N. Countryside Lane, Barrington, IL 60010.
