Williamsport-Marjorie "Marge" Louise (York) Peterson, 94, Williamsport, passed away in the Ascension St. Vincent Williamsport Hospital on Thursday, April 23, 2026 at 8:13 a.m.
Marge, as she was known to family and friends, was born in Pence, in Warren County, Indiana n September 5, 1931. She was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Gladys (Davan) York. She was a life resident of Warren County, graduating from Williamsport High School in 1949.
On September 17, 1949 Marge married Edward "Ed" Oliver Peterson in Attica. Ed preceded her in death on February 25, 2000.
Marge began working at Community Hospital in Williamsport as a nurses aide and later worked in payroll for the Community Hospital, now known as the Ascension St. Vincent Hospital Williamsport for 47 years, retiring in 2007.
Marge was a member of the Judyville Community Church. She and her husband enjoyed square dancing. She also enjoyed the time spent sewing and reading..
On September 17, 1949 Marge married Edward "Ed" Oliver Peterson in Attica. Ed preceded her in death on February 25, 2000.
Marge leaves behind four children, John (Ellen) Peterson, Williamsport; Rick (Carla) Peterson, Rainsville; Kathy Peterson and Jeff (Lori) Peterson, both of Williamsport; ten grandchildren, Kristin (Greg) Phillips, Kevin (Jess) Peterson, Candi (Tim) Lindsay, Brandi (Duane) Horath, Cassie (Kim) Peterson, Jason (Rusty) Slinker, Missy (Donnie) Jernagan, Corey (Megan) Peterson, Brian (Kaycee) Peterson and Adam (Faith) Peterson; twenty-five great-grandchildren; eight great great grandchildren; two brothers, Tom York, Chatam, IL and Jim (Sharon) York, Rossville, IL; She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Peterson; her parents, Lawrence and Gladys York and two brothers, Lloyd and Don York.
Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica on Monday, April 27th, from 11:00 a.m. until the service time at 1:00 p.m. with her nephew, George York officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland Cemetery, Williamsport. Memorial contributions in Marge's memory may be made to the Warren County Community Foundation.
