Attica - MarSue Luann (Spear) Slinker, 63, passed away in the Franciscan Health East Hospital, Lafayette, on Saturday, June 20, 2020 at 7:30 a.m. MarSue fought and won battles for her life spanning the last two decades. She was finally able to rest after peacefully passing Saturday.
MarSue was born on February 15, 1957 in Lafayette. She was the daughter of Robert Spear and Lois Duperey. She grew up and learned her life lessons in Attica under the care of her grandparents, Charles and Hattie Tribby. MarSue graduated from Attica High School in 1975.
MarSue and Richard Slinker have enjoyed 43 years of marriage and raising their family in Attica. MarSue's family was her life and she adored her two daughters, Laurie (Mathew) Pierce and Leslie (Nick) Davis. They gave her all the joy that life had to offer and she lived to love them. MarSue had an immeasurably large heart and each of her seven grandchildren have their own very special place in it. Aiden, Madeline, Adler and Mallory Pierce; and Charles, Henry and Samuel Davis lit her world on fire. She was engrossed by everything they brought to her life. Being their Gammy is what she was effortlessly most successful.
MarSue enjoyed her work and community involvement before her illness became too great. She worked at Attica High School and Attica IGA before joining the staff at Purdue University. She was a member of the Eastern Star and Attica Free Methodist Church. MarSue coached youth softball and volunteered her time to board activity as well. She enjoyed interacting with people and her services and professions reinforced those traits. The time volunteering at the Thrift Shop was both a call and pleasure as MarSue was an avid shopper and bargain hunter. She was able to continue to thrive in this area as she greeted those sharing the passion at her own family yard sales. MarSue was a good friend and neighbor. She saw the good in people and past memories and helped those around her to do the same, even when circumstances may call otherwise.
MarSue was many things in her life. She was a wife, mother and Gammy. Most importantly and highly valued, MarSue was loved by the family she always desired and she has forever taught the lessons of that life to those that keep her in their heart.
Preceding her in death were her father and mother-in-law, Leon "Buck" and Eunice Slinker along with a brother, David Spear.
As per her request, cremation will be accorded and a memorial service will be held. Memorial contributions my be made to the Geri Gyms Inc. for those fighting with Rocky Steady Boxing to improve their terminal diagnosis.
