Attica - Martha Louise (Porter) Hatke, 71, Attica, passed away in the St. Mary's Healthcare Center, Lafayette, on Thursday, April 2, 2026 at 12:56 p.m.
Martha was born in Indianapolis, IN on February 10, 1955. She was the daughter of Paul Porter of Orlando, FL and the late Dorothy (McGuire) Porter. Martha was raised in Valparaiso, IN, graduating from Valparaiso High School. She later attended St. Elizabeth School of Nursing in Lafayette. Here is where she met her future husband, David Louis Hatke and they were married on August 24, 1974 in Valparaiso, IN. David preceded her in death on February 22, 2010.
Martha formerly worked at Stone Hall on the campus of Purdue University. She was a food service staff member and retired from Purdue.
Martha was a member of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Attica. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, cooking and canning the vegetables that she grew in her garden.
She leaves behind her three children, Andrew J. (Anne L. ) Hatke, Attica; Amber M. Hatke, Lafayette and Anne M. (Andrew) Borden, Chesterton, IN; eleven grandchildren, Brian, Devin, Cole, Erika Hardin; John Borden; Emma, Benjamin, Claira, Matthias, Solomon, Abraham Hatke; two brothers, Michael (Margaret) Porter, Fond du Lac, WI and Mark (Deborah) Porter, Birmingham, AL; her father, Paul Porter, Orlando, FL.
A memorial gathering will be held at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 407 S. Perry St., Attica, on Saturday, May 16th, from 9:00 a.m. until the Rosary service at 10:45 a.m. followed by the Funeral Mass as 11:00 a.m. with Rev. David Rasner officiating. Inurnment will follow in the St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Attica. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Francis Xavier Church or for Masses.
