Attica - Marvin Eugene Commons, 75, of Attica, died peacefully at 12:28 a.m. on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at the St. Vincent Indianapolis Hospital, surrounded by his three boys and his loving wife.

Marvin was born on November 25, 1946 in Lawrence, Kansas. He was the son of the late Phillip S. and Mildred Marie (Day) Commons. He was raised in Lawrence, the fourth of five children, with horse pastures nearby, a large garden with fruit trees, and chickens rustling in the yard. He graduated from Lawrence High School in 1965, and then went on to study at Kansas State College of Pittsburg, KS. In 1970, Marvin enlisted in the US Army Reserves and served in the Kansas National Guard from 1970-1979. He and his young family relocated to Independence, KS, where he worked as a production manager for Mattel, then to Lafayette, IN where he began working for Warren Paper Products until its closure in 1986. He began working at C&D Batteries in 1989 and eventually earned a Business Administration degree at Indiana Wesleyan University. Marvin moved to Attica in 1995 and married his devoted wife of 23 years, Christine "Chris" Brown on June 19, 1999 in West Lafayette. They lived together on their cherished farmland, and Marvin eventually retired from C&D in 2016.

In his robust retirement years, Marvin was a member of the 21st Century Greater Works in Colfax, where he proudly volunteered his service to the Food Bank of the church. He continued to be an avid outdoorsman and upland game hunter. He loved to fish and hunt with his sons, proudly work to maintain his farmland, including raising his chickens and tending to the cattle and horses that continue to graze on his land.

He leaves behind his wife, Chris along with three sons, Aaron (Tiffany) Commons, Gallatin, TN; Justin (Julie) Commons, Lafayette; and Travis Commons, Nashville, TN; Step Children, Tiffany (Kerry) Synesael and Brittany (Jeff) Kyger, both of Attica; Brothers, Merle (Paula) Commons, Edwin (Vivian) Commons & Ron (Deedee) Commons, all of Lawrence, KS; Sister, Phyllis (the late Gene) Blaylock, Lawrence, KS; Grandchildren, Tyler & Abigail Commons; Step Grandchildren, Kelton (Stacey) Trent, Brady ("Liv") Synesael, Maci (friend - Josh) Kyger & Mya Kyger; and a step Great-Granddaughter, Madison Trent.

Marvin was a devout spiritual man who followed the teachings of Christ and strove to live by His Word. He will be sadly missed by his sons, his beloved wife, his three brothers and sister, their families and his many friends.

Friends will be received at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Friday, January 14 from 11:00 a.m until the service time of 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Joe Lovell officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Riverside Cemetery, Attica, Indiana. Loved ones are also invited to join in fellowship at West Mill Social Hall, 115 W Mill St, Attica, IN, after the burial.
