Attica - Mary Lou (Haas) Hulsey, 86, Attica, passed away in the Ascension St. Vincent Williamsport Hospital on Friday, April 19, 2024 at 9:08 a.m.
Mary Lou was born on August 3, 1937 in Hammond, Indiana. She was the daughter of the late Alva Lewis and Mary Flossie (Slinker) Haas. She was raised in Attica and attended Attica High School.
Mary Lou worked as a waitress at various restaurants in and around Attica. Most notably the Hoosier Restaurant in Attica where most people remember her as a waitress.
Mary Lou had attended the Attica Assembly of God Church. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the V.F.W. Auxiliary in Attica. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, playing cards and playing bingo with her sisters.
On March 26, 1960, Mary Lou married Elvin James "Jim" Hulsey in Attica, IN. Jim preceded her in death on November 8, 2004.
Mary Lou leaves behind four children, Debra (Randy) Dotson, Attica; Elton (Debbie) Hulsey, Lafayette; Pauline (Raymond) Scott, Attica and Patricia (David) Rasnic, Attica; two sisters, Frances Warrick and Janice Ferguson, both of Attica; four brothers, Joe (Faye) Haas, Elkhart, IN; Raymond Haas, Elkhart, IN; Clint (Donna) Haas, Middlebury, IN and Alva (Cindy) Haas, Lafayette; 12 grandchildren, Tiffany (Will) Hogstrum; Andrew (Tanna) Dotson; Brent (Lindsey) Hulsey; Molly (Kyra) Hulsey-Pratt; Jared Hulsey; Sondra (Jon) Clawson; Travis (Itzel) Scott; Brittany (Jared) Rasnic; Brandon Hulsey; Elvin Hulsey; Malia Hulsey and Arlene Hulsey; 15 great-grandchildren; 3 great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Roy Lee and Donnie Hulsey; a sister, Carrie Ferguson and two brothers, Frank and Everett Haas.
A gravesite service for Mary Lou will be held on Wednesday, April 24th at 2:00 p.m. in the Riverside Cemetery, Attica, Indiana with Pastor Jerry Badgley officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
