Attica - Mary Ann Kurz, 94, a life resident of Attica, passed away in the Lane House in Crawfordsville, IN on Monday, September 21, 2026 at 3:38 a.m.
Mary Ann was born at home in Attica, Indiana on August 12, 1932. She was the daughter of the late Karl and Elsa (Sihler) Kurz. Mary Ann was a life resident of the Attica community, graduating from Attica High School in 1950. Her folks immigrated from Germany. Mary Ann went on to graduate from Indiana Business College. During her high school years, Mary Ann worked with her parents in the Kurz Shoe Store in downtown Attica. She worked in bookkeeping at ALCOA in Lafayette and later for Public Service, now Duke Energy until her retirement. After her retirement she went on to do bookkeeping for Dr. Peter R. Petrich, MD in Attica until her final retirement. She was a long time member of the St. James Lutheran Church in Lafayette. She was baptized in the Lutheran Church. She enjoyed knitting. She was an avid sports fan and followed the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Blackhawks. She enjoyed family trips in the United States and also traveled back to Germany to see where her family originated from. Mary Ann leaves behind a nephew, Karl (Laurie) Gee, Linden, IN; a niece, Marsha (Robbie) Filimon, Wesley Chapel, FL; two great nieces and three great nephews; nine great great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Carol Gee. Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica on Friday, September 25th from 12:00 p.m. (Noon) until the service time at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. John Bombaro, of the St. James Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery, Attica.
