Attica - Max Darrell Mickle, 67, of the Riverside community, east of Attica, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, December 20, 2024 at 11:20 a.m.
Max was born in Danville, Illinois on December 26, 1956.  He was the son of the late Dean David and Merdith Alice (Rainey) Mickle.  Max was a life resident of the Attica community, attending Attica High School and playing on the varsity football team.
Max later joined Poynter Drywall and eventually started his own drywall company, called Mickle Drywall until his retirement. After retirement he continued to work as a maintenance man at the Warren County Courthouse.  He also worked for the City of Attica, mowing and working with the ground crew.
Max was a member of the Attica Moose Lodge # 1482.  He enjoyed the outdoors where he liked to fish and ride his Harley Motorcycle.  He liked to hunt mushrooms.  His greatest enjoyment was watching his grandchildren play sports. He was a great father figure and a generous grandfather to his extended family.
Max leaves behind three children, Michelle Shonkwiler, Williamsport; Sarah (Aaron) Reynolds and Marcas (Sarina) Mickle, both of Attica; five grandchildren, Libby Shonkwiler, Zeb Shonkwiler, Ezra Reynolds, Hazel Reynolds and Liam Mickle; three brothers, Michael Mickle, Chattanooga, TN; Marty (Tina) Mickle, Springfield, IL and Monte Mickle, West Lebanon; two sisters, Melissa (Robert) Mickle-Nelson, Nashville, TN and Maria (Michael) Sabad, Friendsville, TN.
A gathering for family and friends will be held at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Monday, December 30th, from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. memorial service time with Pastor Josh Barnett officiating.  Memorial contributions in Max's memory may be made to the Athletic Department of Attica High School.
