Hillsboro - May Louise (Doyle) Felix, 92, Hillsboro, passed away quietly in her home on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at 6:45 p.m. with family by her side.
May was born in Alton, Illinois on November 15, 1932. She was the daughter of the late Clarence Russell and Beulah (Manker) Doyle. May was raised in Alton and Medora, Illinois, graduating from Medora High School. She later attended Lincoln Christian College.
On April 25, 1954, May married Thomas D. Felix in Williamsport, IN. Tom preceded her in death on April 5, 2005.
In 1957, May and Tom moved to Hillsboro, Indiana and opened Felix's Grocery Store. They operated the store until their retirement in 1990. Tom & May later operated the Clean-O-Mat Laundromat in Hillsboro for several years. May was active in the Hillsboro community serving as its Clerk-Treasurer for 10 years.
People who knew May knew of her strong faith and love for the Lord. She was a former member of the Hillsboro Christian Church and more recently a member of the Sterling Christian Church. She was a member of the Extension Homemakers and was a charter member of the Stitch & Stir Club of Hillsboro.
May leaves behind four children, Margie (Stan) Huff, Bloomington, IL; Pamela Felix, Hillsboro; Andy (Terry) Felix, Washington, IL and Steve (Jamie)
Felix, Buda, TX; two grandsons, Jared ( Megan) Huff and Tom (Jennifer) Felix; four granddaughters, Melissa (Jason) Tiearney, Suzanne Tanner, Jennifer (Nick) Tackett and Ali ( Jarrett) Newby; 17 great-grandchildren; a sister, Wanda Gross, Medora, IL. May was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a grandson, Alex Huff.
Friends may call at the Sterling Christian Church, 701 S. Sterling Avenue, Veedersburg, on Saturday, June 14th, from 11:00 a.m. until the service time at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Gary Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Locust Grove Cemetery, near Ambia, IN. Memorial contributions in May's memory may be made to the Sterling Christian Church or to Rapha International, P.O. Box 1569, Joplin, MO 64802-1569.
