Attica - Melvin Louis Neyhart, 81, formerly of Attica and had been residing in the Williamsport Health & Rehabilitation Center, passed away in the I.U. Health Arnett Hospital, Lafayette, on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at 3:09 a.m.
Melvin was born in Gary, Indiana on July 2, 1941.  He was the son of the late Cecil and Lillian (Barney) Neyhart.  Melvin grew up in Lake Station and graduated from River Forest High School.  He later moved to Attica in 1997.
Following graduation from high school, Melvin entered the service and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War.
Following his honorable discharge from the service he worked at various jobs in the Lake County area until moving to Attica.  After his move to Attica in 1997 he worked at Harrison Steel Castings Company in the Core Room until his retirement.
Melvin attended the Christ Gospel Church in Attica.  He enjoyed fishing, reading and working puzzle books.
He leaves behind three children, Tennia (Mike) Ollier, Durango, CO; William (Betsy) Stocker, Veedersburg and Shawna Neyhart, Attica; four siblings, James (Minnie) Neyhart, Attica; Carl Neyhart, Oklahoma; Allen (Deborah) Neyhart, Lake Station and Melissa Thiele; seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; also several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by two siblings, Cecil and Carol Neyhart along with his parents.
Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Thursday, May 4th, from 12:00 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Billy Scroggins officiating.  Burial with military honors will be in the Riverside Cemetery, Attica.
