Attica - Norma Jean (Donovan) Gustus, 85, Attica, passed away in the Williamsport Health and Rehabilitation Center on Monday, November 14, 2022 at 7:45 a.m.
Norma was born in Hillsboro, Indiana on September 19, 1937. She was the daughter of the late Harold Olin and Edna F. (Snyder) Donovan. Norma was raised in Hillsboro, graduating from Hillsboro High School in 1955. After working a years at Snyder & McClellan Engineering Firm in Hillsboro, she married George Thomas Gustus, of Attica, on November 3, 1956 in the Hillsboro United Methodist Church parsonage. They later moved to Attica in October of 1957. Tom preceded her in death on December 11, 1999.
In September of 1976, Norma began working as a remedial reading aide at the Attica Grade School. She worked 25 years as an aide, then did substitute teaching for 9 years with the Attica Grade School. She retired in 2001.
Norma enjoyed working crossword puzzles and reading early pioneer stories. Her favorite author was Bess Streeter Aldridge.
Norma leaves behind her four sons, Thomas J. Gustus, Williamsport; Jeffery S. (Lynda) Gustus, Ft. Wayne; Kevin A. (Chom Ye) Gustus,Layton, UT and Todd D. Gustus, Williamsport; four grandchildren, Ryan (Anne) Gustus, Caitlyn (Alex) Talbert and Karen Gustus, Ft. Wayne; Hannah Gustus, Williamsport; three great-grandchildren, Madeleine, Audrey and Olivia Gustus, all of Ft. Wayne. She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Harold Lee and John Donovan; a sister, Betty Brown; a half brother, Forrest Donovan and two half sisters, Evelyn and Helen.
As per Norma request, cremation services were accorded her with a memorial gravesite service scheduled for Spring of 2023 in the Riverside Cemetery, Attica, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude's Children Hospital or Shriners Children Hospital.
