Attica - Opal Mae (Gibson) Rich, 96, Attica, passed away at her residence in Autumn Trace in Attica on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at 4:55 p.m.
Opal was born in Jasonville, Indiana on April 12, 1925. She was the daughter of the late Paul and Xarifa (Wade) Gibson. Opal was raised in Jasonville and graduated from Jasonville High School in 1943. She has been a resident of Attica since 1966.
Opal began working as a realtor with Zollars Realty in October of 1995.
She was an active member of the Attica Christian Church. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the V.F.W. Post 3318 of Attica and American Legion Post 259 of Williamsport. She served as President of the Indiana Ladies Auxiliary of the V.F.W. from 2002-2003. She was an avid reader and enjoyed raising flowers.
Opal married Wayne H. Rich on October 7, 1945 in Jasonville, IN. Wayne preceded her in death on June 1, 2010.
Opal leaves behind two sons, Michael W. (Robin) Rich, Attica and Mark H. (Susan) Rich, Deland, FL; a daughter, Martha Palmer, Pingree Grove, IL; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Pearson "Gene" Gibson and Earl Gibson; her son-in-law, Thomas Palmer along with her parents.
Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Wednesday, December 29th, from 12:00 p.m. until the V.F.W. memorial service at 2:00 p.m. A celebration of Opal's life will begin at 2:15 p.m. with Pastor Sue Spurlin officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery, Attica. Memorial contributions may be made to the Attica V.F.W. Auxiliary or the Attica Christian Church.
