Newtown - Paul Thurman Spear, 80, Newtown, passed away in his home, following his failing health, with his daughters by his side, on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 at 11:20 a.m.
Paul was born at home in Newtown, Indiana on January 13, 1946.  He was the son of the late Rumzie Irvin and Mary Agnes (Clark) Spear.  He was a life resident of Newtown, attending Richland Township School.  He formerly worked at Harrison Steel Castings Company in Attica and later worked at Wabash National in Lafayette until his retirement.
Paul was a member of the Prairie Chapel Church near Hillsboro.  He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Crawfordsville.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his grandchildren.  More recently he enjoyed singing karaoke to Johnny Cash songs.  He was an avid I.U. and Fountain Central High School sports fan.
On December 26, 1964 Paul married Linda Marie Lucas in the Williamsport Christian Church.  Linda preceded him in death on August 19, 2020.
Paul leaves behind his two daughters, Connie (David) Scott, Wingate and Missy (Scott) Mitchell, Attica; a brother, James Spear, Markle, IN; six grandchildren, Jesse (Hannah) Scott, Brittany (Josh) Branam, Dillon (Kristen) Scott, Clayton (Bethany) Scott, Andrew (Shelby) Mitchell and Katelyn (Hesston) Helms; thirteen great-grandchildren, Olive, David Caleb, Isabella, Teagan, Sadie, Emery, Haisley, Harper, Shay, Colton, Maddie and Brylee.  He was preceded in death by three brothers, Herman, Victor and Rumzie Spear along with a sister, Mary Lucas; a half-brother, Walter Spear and a half-sister, Nell Spear Nelson.
Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Friday, July 3rd from 11:00 a.m until the service time at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Johnny Booth officiating.  Burial will follow in the Newtown Cemetery, Newtown.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Prairie Chapel Church or the Mellott Volunteer Fire Department.
