Peggy Jeanne (Rapson) Byers was born on July 15, 1946. It is with great sadness to announce that she left us to be with the Lord peacefully being surrounded by her husband and family for the last days of her life at her home outside of Pine Village, IN on June 11, 2024, aging 77 years. She was the daughter of the late Rev. Eugene Rapson and Eleanor West-Rapson.
Peggy was a 1964 graduate of Pine Village High School. She enjoyed traveling, winters in Venice, Florida, crafting, puzzles and of course she loved shopping. She enjoyed going to rock n' roll shows with her family and loved listening to anything Elvis, especially his gospel recordings. Mostly she enjoyed her husband Terry, and she adored her family and friends, She loved the Christmas season and took joy in showering her children and grandchildren with gifts.
She married the love of her life, Terry Byers on June 6, 1965, and they celebrated 59 years of marriage together..
Peggy was a stay-at-home wife and mother where she provided childcare for many years and then started working at Bank One in 1991. She worked there for 14 years until retiring in 2004.
She was loved by all that knew her and had an unending love and a compassionate heart for so many. Peggy was a preacher's daughter and had a deep love for Jesus and she knew that there was a place for her in the Lord's heavenly kingdom. She was a member of the Pine Village United Methodist Church for many years and in most recent years attended Pine Village Christian Church.
Peggy is survived by husband Terry Byers of Pine Village, children Melody Layton (Jon) of Medina, OH, Misty (Jeff) Brummett of Greenhill, Aaron (Angie) Byers of Pine Village, eight grandchildren, Emily (Michael) Duda, Brittany (Matthew) Patterson, Tyler Brummet, Abigaile Brummett, Clayton (Kassi) Fyffe, Megan Fyffe, Allyson Byers and Hannah Byers, six great-grandchildren, Tanner Herriott, Ella Patterson, Weston Brummett, Lyla Ewan, Bentley, Moore and Connor Fyffe; two sisters, Patricia Taylor, Bluffton, IN and Rosemary (Don) Alban, West Lafayette; sister-in-law and brother-in-law James and Becky Blinn of Pine Village, sister-in-law Phyllis Byers of Lafayette. She was proceeded by brother-in-law Larry Byers.
Visitation will be held at the Pine Village Christian Church on Friday, June 14 from 4:00 p.m.-7:00p.m. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday June 15 at 10:30 a.m. at the Pine Village Christian Church with Paul Stamm officiating. Interment will follow in the Pine Village Cemetery.
