Penny Elaine (Mosher) Wrighthouse, 74, of Attica passed away on May 13, 2025, at IU Health Arnett Hospital after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. She was born on March 10, 1951, in LaPorte, Indiana to the late George Mosher and Clara (Kolanowski) Mosher. She graduated from North Judson High School in 1969 and later from Purdue University in 1973. Penny met the love of her life while attending Purdue, Mike Wrighthouse. They were married in North Judson, IN on August 3, 1974. Penny began teaching math in the fall of 1974 at Attica Jr./Sr. High School. She proudly retired after 35 loyal years of teaching there in 2008. Post retirement she managed the Harrison Hills Country Club restaurant and worked as the Attica Schools extracurricular activities treasurer until she became a grandmother in 2016.
Penny was a charitible and active member of the Attica community. She volunteered in various roles with Attica Parks, Attica Sharing and Kindness (ASK), Tri Kappa, United Way, Indiana Association of School Principals, Fountain County Democrats, and Valley Oaks Health. While she was teaching she sponsored or coached National Honor Society, Student Council, and academic competitions. Penny was a lover of sports, especially the Purdue Boilermakers and her beloved Chicago Cubs, and an avid reader and crossword puzzler. She and Mike also enjoyed traveling together to Fort Myers Beach, FL every summer and visiting other locations, wineries, and music arts venues around the country.
Penny is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Terry and Michael, and close family friend Donna Tiger. She is survived by her husband, Mike; her son, Phil; his wife, Liz; and their daughter, Norah, Penny's only granddaughter whom she loved and cared about very much and never missed a chance to go watch her dance performances.
Friends may gather at the Maus Funeral Home, in Attica, on Thursday, May 22nd from 5:00 -7:00 p.m. and again on Friday, May 23rd from 10:00 a.m. until the Celebration of Penny's Life at 11:00 a.m. with her son, Philip Wrighthouse giving the eulogy for his mother.
