Attica - Quinton J. Tooker, 81, Attica, passed away in the Williamsport Health & Rehabilitation Center, on Wednesday, September 16. 2026 at 12:24 p.m.
Quinton was born on February 24, 1945 in the former St. Elizabeth Hospital, Danville, Illinois. He was the son of the late Adrian E. and Thelma L. (Jones) Tooker. He graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1963. He had lived most of his life in the Hillsboro and Veedersburg area and more recently in Attica since 1990. Quinton worked in retail most of his life. He worked as an Assistant Manager and Manager of local grocery stores including Covington IGA, Veedersburg Star Market, Attica Star Market and Veedersburg Food Basket through December of 1990. During these times, he also worked at Tee-PaK in Danville, IL; managed True Value Store for a short time, and also at Veedersburg Co-op. In January of 1991 he started working for the Indiana Department of Transportation at the sub located in Veedersburg. He worked on the road crew until a position became available in the parts room. He was transferred to the Fowler Sub in 2003. He eventually transferred back to Veedersburg in 2007, working on the road crew until his retirement on May 29, 2009 after 18 years of service. Quinton married Sandra Marquess on May 8, 1965 and later divorced on September 9, 1986. Quinton later married Karen S. Van Hyfte on March 3, 1990. He leaves behind his wife, Karen of 36 years along with his two sons, Daniel Scott (Dianna) Tooker and Sean Eugene (Michelle) Tooker; his two step-daughters, Teresa A. (Gregory) Carter, Hot Springs, AR and Catherine S. Pattengale, Attica; two granddaughters, Leeana Tooker Townsend, Covington and Lauren Starkey, Rockville; five step grandchildren, Karrah Pattengale Henke, Abby Pattengale, Ashley Martin, Haley Carter and Cameron Carter; two great-grandchildren, Jenson Townsend and Ava Townsend; four step great-grandchildren, Gibson Sheets, Geddy Sheets, Henley Martin and Blakley Martin; two nieces, Jenette Robinson, Middlebury, IN and Molly (Brian) Grossman, LaGrange, IN; several great-nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Merle Tooker and a great-grandson, Jameson Townsend. Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Sunday, September 20th, from 2:00 p.m. until the service time at 4:00 p.m. with Rev. David Rasner officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Riverside Cemetery, Attica.
