Attica - Raleigh Loyd Molden, 84, Attica, passed away in the I.U. Health Arnett Hospital, Lafayette, on Friday, October 29, 2021 at 12:30 p.m.
Raleigh was born in Faubush, Kentucky on March 7, 1937. He was the son of the late Thomas Jefferson and Susie Jane (Kissee) Molden. He was raised in Kentucky and attended Cedar Point School in Pulaski County. In 1958 he moved to Indiana and resided in Attica.
While living in Attica, Raleigh worked at Harrison Steel Castings Company as a mold finisher. He later worked in the maintenance department, retiring in 2003 after 40 years of service. Following retirement he worked as a self-employed handyman in the community.
Raleigh was an active member of the Attica Free Methodist Church, serving as a Trustee for the church. He was known for his deep bass voice and sang with the church praise team on Sunday mornings and also for special events. He also served the church by cooking for the men's breakfasts on Saturday mornings. While living in Kentucky he was a part of several quartets that sang. He often sang the song "Long Black Train" when he was called upon to sing. He enjoyed the Bible study group which met on Tuesday nights. When he wasn't doing handyman work in the community, you could find Raleigh in his boat fishing at one of the local lakes or spending his time at Crossroads restaurant drinking coffee and telling stories. He enjoyed his carpentry work along with raising a garden with which he shared with anyone. He liked to play cards with friends and enjoyed the special times he spent with Adrian and Milo Reyes, which they referred to Raleigh as their grandpa. He enjoyed watching them in various activities that they participated. They were the joy of his life.
On April 2, 1960, Raleigh married Dianna Gail Wilson in Williamsport. Dianna preceded him in death on February 5, 2020 following their 60 years of marriage.
Raleigh was a father figure to , Cruz (Jennifer) Reyes, Attica; grandpa to Adrian & Milo Reyes, Attica; a father figure to Soozie (Vince) Ricketts, New Richmond and her children, Shari (Tyler) Coats, Lafayette, Shannon Floyd, Indianapolis and Connor Ricketts, Attica; a brother to, Deloris (Bucky) Rogers, Ingle, KY and a brother-in-law to Winnie Molden, Ingle, KY, Dixie Alkire, Covington and Sheila Wilson, Attica.  He was preceded in death by his brother, Rodney Molden. He will be missed by his church family, the Bible Study group, his fishing buddies and numerous other friends.
Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Friday, November 5th, from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Services will be held in the Attica Free Methodist Church, 301 N. Sixth St., Attica, on Saturday, November 6th at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jerry Badgley officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery, Attica. Memorial contributions may be made to the Christmas Store Fund of the Attica Free Methodist Church.
