Attica - Ramona June (Poynter) Martin, 84, of Lafayette, died at 4:11 p.m. on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at the St. Elizabeth East Hospital, Lafayette.


Ramona was born on July 15, 1936 in Savoy, Kentucky. She was the daughter of the late William Bruel & Ruth Montrose (Ferguson) Poynter. She moved to Attica in 1952 and attended Attica High School. She later moved to West Point in 1980 and then to Lafayette in 2011.


Ramona married Robert E. Martin on December 27, 1975 in Attica. He preceded her in death on May 1, 2011


Ramona had worked in the Activities Department of Regency Place in Lafayette. She had later worked at McDonalds in Lafayette. She was a member of the Lighthouse Baptist Chruch in Lafayette. She enjoyed crafting; especially needlework, embroidery and ceramics.


Survivors include three children, Teresa (Roger) Cotten, West Point, Wanda (Virgil) Corwin & Glenn (Mendy) Locke, both of Lafayette; nine grandchildren, Jesse (Miranda) Martin, Harley Martin, Mareesa Martin, Darrell Corwin, Michelle Corwin, Natasha Locke, Ashley Locke, Macey Locke & Brooklyn Locke; 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, Michael "Butter" Poynter, Attica; two sisters, Loretta (Robert) Snyder & Carolyn Poynter, both of Champaign, IL. She was preceded in death by a son, Darrell Locke; three brothers, Jim, Coy & "Bud"; and five sisters, Naomi Bennett, Alma Pulliam, Barbara Coomer, Betty Frank & Beatrice Davis.


A public graveside service will be held in the Riverside Cemetery, Attica, on Tuesday, December 8, at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor William "Bill" Murdock officiating. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
