Attica - Raymond Leon Merrill, 90, formerly of Attica and had been residing with his son in Indianapolis, passed away at the home of his son, on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at 4:00 a.m.
Raymond was born in Bicknell, Knox County, Indiana on February 18, 1932. He was the son of the late Chester William and Maggie Ellen (Mathews) Merrill. Raymond was raised and educated in Bicknell. He later moved to Michigan to work and then moved back to Indiana and resided in West Lebanon for a few years until moving to Attica where he resided most of his adult life.
Raymond worked at C & D Battery in Attica from 1970 until his retirement in 1997.
Raymond was a member of the Attica Christian Church. He had been a member of the Moose Lodge # 1482 of Attica. He enjoyed collecting stamps and coins. He enjoyed the time spent in his flower garden.
On July 16, 1950, Raymond married Delores Maybelle Casey in Knox County, IN. Delores preceded Raymond in death on January 3, 2019.
Raymond leaves behind his five sons, John Merrill, Hoopeston, IL; Don Merrill, Attica; Carl (Karin) Merrill, Williamsport; Ron (Debbie) Merrill, Goldsboro, NC and Charles "Chuck" (Betty) Merrill, Indianapolis; two daughters, Judy Crowder, West Lebanon and Lynetta (Scott) Bales, Williamsport; 25 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 9 great great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, William "Willy) Merrill.
Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Thursday, October 27th from 12:00 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor David Cheatwood officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery, Attica. Memorial contributions may be made to the Attica Christian Church.
