West Point - Raymond Harold Snider, 86, West Point, passed away in his home, with his family by his side, on Monday, June 29, 2026 at 12:34 p.m. following his failing health.
Harold, as he was known to family and friends, was born in Lafayette, Indiana on April 30, 1940. He was the son of the late William Alfred and Lucille (Griffis) Snider. He was raised near Roberts Corner in Fountain County. He graduated from Attica High School in 1959. He has lived in Lafayette since 1995 and more recently in West Point since 2023.
Harold worked as a clerk in the Central Store at Eli Lilly Company in Lafayette for 28 years, retiring in 1993.
Harold served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. At the time of his honorable discharge he had attained the rank of Airman 1st Class.
Harold was a member of the West Point United Methodist Church. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 11 in Lafayette. He enjoyed fishing and hunting mushrooms. He loved the time spent with his family.
On February 4, 1961, Harold married Sandra "Sandy" Sue Anderson in Lawton, OK, while stationed in the Air Force. Sandy preceded Harold in death on August 1, 2021.
Harold leaves behind his two sons, Rick (Lisa) Snider and Randy (Kay) Snider, both of West Point; five grandchildren, Cody Snider, Drew (Wendy) Snider, Lindsay Snider, Cole Snider, Kaylee (Clayton) Rafert; three great-grandchildren, Marshall, Finley and Wrenlee; a sister, Dolores Flynn, Lafayette; a brother, Rick Snider, Cutler, IN; two sisters-in-laws, Carolyn Snider and Karen Snider. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Jeff Snider along with two brothers, Ed and Denny Snider.
Friends may call at the West Point United Methodist Church on Friday, July 3rd from 1:00 p.m. until the service time at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Mary Barnett officiating. Inurnment will be held in the West Point Cemetery, West Point, IN on Saturday, August 1st at 11:00 a.m.. Memorial contributions may be made to the West Point Volunteer Fire Department.
