Attica - Richard "Rick" Dwayne Caldwell, 70, formerly of Crawfordsville and had been residing with his sister, Rebecca McNeely in rural Attica, passed away in her home on Thursday, January 29, 2026 at 2:47 a.m.

Rick, as he was known to family and friends, was born in Kansas City, Kansas on April 19, 1955.  He was the son of Beverly Ann (Beecher) Caldwell of Crawfordsville and the late Richard Lee Caldwell.  Rick was raised in the Crawfordsville area, graduating from South Montgomery High School in 1973.  Following graduation, Rick entered the US Army and served during the Vietnam War as a medic.  He was stationed in Belgium during the end of the war.  At the time of his honorable discharge in 1976, he had attained the rank of SP4.  Following his tour of duty with the Army he entered college and graduated from the University of Tennessee in May 1989 with a BS degree in business administration.  Rick worked throughout the United States with various companies and in various capacities.  He later worked as an over-the-road truck driver with various trucking companies out of the Fort Wayne area until his retirement.  After he became ill, he moved in with his sister, Rebecca McNeely in Attica.

Rick's hobbies were fishing, golfing, reading, playing cards, and traveling.

He leaves behind a son and a grandson, Zachary and Levi, both of Lafayette; his mother, Beverly of Crawfordsville; three sisters, Rebecca McNeely, Attica; Kelly (Bob) Surber, Crawfordsville; Rhonda Rossok, Waveland and a brother, David (Beth) Caldwell, Crawfordsville; several nieces and nephews.  His father, Richard Caldwell preceded in death.

As per Rick's wish, cremation services were accorded him and a private memorial gravesite service will be held later in the summer at the Old Union Cemetery, Waveland, IN.  Maus Funeral Home in Attica has been entrusted with the final arrangements.
