Richard A. Price

Portland Arch - Richard Allen Price, 73, of rural Attica (Portland Arch) passed away on his birthday, Saturday, June 1, 2024 at 12:07 p.m. with his family by his side.
Richard was born in the Community Hospital, in Williamsport, Indiana on June 1, 1951.  He was the son of the late Lester Wayne Price and Elizabeth Ann (Harrison) Jaynes.  Richard was raised in Williamsport and graduated from Williamsport High School in 1969.  He has resided in Portland Arch for the past 20 years.
Following graduation from high school, Richard entered the U.S. Marine Corp and served during the Vietnam War.  He was proud to be a Marine and at the time of his Honorable Discharge he had attained the rank of Sergeant.
After his discharge from the service Richard began working for Olins in Covington, which later changed to Flexel.  He worked for 30 years for these two companies until his retirement.
Richard had attended the Attica Church of the Nazarene and served as a Sunday School teacher.  He enjoyed his time fishing and in his early years enjoyed playing softball.  He had also coached softball and coached his daughters.
On June 29, 1974, Richard married Kathy Jo Nickles in the Cupid Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas, NV.
Richard leaves behind his wife, Kathy Jo,  of soon to be 50 years, along with three children, Ray Price, West Lebanon; Brandy (Brad) Ross, Portland Arch and Honey (Matthew) Smith, Portland Arch; five grandchildren, Jamie Bennett, Bryce Ross, Robert Ross, Ray Price and Clayton Price;    a great-granddaughter, Willow Bennett; a sister, Sharon S. Swearingen, Brazil, IN; two brothers, Frankie Joe (Sharon) Price, Williamsport and William (Dortie) Price, Attica.  He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Garnet "Lee" Price and Paul W. Price.
Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica on Wednesday, June 5th, from 5:00 p.m. until the military service at 7:00 p.m. with the U.S. Marine Corp and American Legion providing military services.  Following the military service, family and friends will share memories.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Central Indiana Autism Society, 10255 Commerce Drive - Suite 164, Carmel, IN 46032.
