Attica - Richard "Dick"Andrew Sexton, 96, Attica, passed away at the home of his daughter in Lafayette on Thursday, January 15, 2026 at 5:27 a.m.
Richard was born at home in West Lebanon, Indiana on December 3, 1929. He was the son of the late Andrew Thomas and Genevieve (Cronkhite) Sexton. Richard was raised and educated in West Lebanon. He later moved to Attica in 1950.
Richard was a press operator at ALCOA in Lafayette for 33 years, retiring in 1986. During this time, he worked the night shift a ALCOA and worked the day shift for Neumayr Lumber Company in Attica. He did this for 25 years. Richard enjoyed the outdoors and liked to mow lawns. He mowed lawns for local residents well up into his 90's.
Richard was an avid I.U. basketball and Bobby Knight fan. You could always find him cheering on his children's and grandchildren's sporting events.
On November 18, 1950, Richard married Lillian L. Phillips in Covington, IN. Lillian preceded him in death, after 69 years of marriage, on November 17, 2019.
Richard leaves behind three children, Dickie Lee (Kay) Sexton; Bobby D. (Karen) Sexton and Cindy Ann Flickinger, all of Lafayette; three sisters, Doris Hurt, West Lebanon; Sandra Shonkwiler, Attica and Jennie Kay, Lafayette; eight grandchildren, Brad Sexton, Lafayette; Amber Lee, Jacksonville, FL; Tasha Cox, Lafayette; Bryce (Laura) Sexton, Lafayette; Lynzie Flickinger, Lafayette; Sgt. P.J. (Olga) Flickinger, US Army, Ft. Bragg, NC; Ashlynn (Colby) Booker, Nashville, TN; 20 great-grandchildren; his former daughter-in-law, Sheila ( John) Binz, West Lafayette. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela K. Wilson; a brother, Jimmy Knowles; two sisters and his parents.
A funeral service will be held at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Monday, January 19th at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Dan Jordan officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery, Attica. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society or to the charity of one's choice.
