Portland Arch - Richard Earl Waldron, 89, Portland Arch, passed away in the I.U. Health Arnett Hospital, Lafayette, on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at 8:58 a.m.
Richard was born south of Portland Arch, in Fountain County, Indiana, on October 23, 1932. He was the son of the late Earl H. and Glenna Marie (Cox) Waldron. He was raised south of Portland Arch and moved into Portland Arch in 1987. He wintered for over 27 years in Punta Gorda, FL.
Richard was a 1950 graduate of Covington High School. He retired from Interstate Sand and Gravel in 1998. He also farmed most of his life.
Richard was a member of the Fountain Christian Church in Portland Arch. He was a 50 year member of the Fountain Lodge # 60 F. & A.M. in Covington. As a pastime he enjoyed fishing.
On January 28, 1956, Richard married Judith Kay Thomas in Covington, IN. Judy preceded Richard in death on June 5, 2008.
Richard leaves behind a daughter, Brenda Kay Wickens, Attica; a sister, Lois Tuggle, Covington; four grandchildren, Erica Leigh Waldron, Bradley Gene Waldron, Dustin Kent (Heagen) Wickens and Alissa Kay (Andrew) Hughes; seven great-grandchildren, Macyn, Preston, Addi, Mabel, Millie, Brooklyn and Madison He was preceded in death by two sons, David Earl Waldron and Rickie Gene Waldron; a grandson, Chris Waldron and a brother, Dale Waldron.
A private family memorial gathering will be held at the Maus Funeral Home with a Masonic memorial service to follow. A private inurnment will follow in the Riverside Cemetery, Attica. Memorial contributions may be made to the Portland Christian Church.
