Attica - Robert "Bob" Nelson Davis, 80, Attica, passed away in his home, surrounded by his family, on Monday, January 3, 2022 at 3:30 a.m. following his failing health.
Bob was born in Winthrop, Indiana on August 21, 1941. He was the son of the late Charles "Charlie" Davis and Edna Lorene (Hinton) Norush. Bob was raised in Winthrop and was a 1959 graduate of Pine Village High School where he played varsity basketball.
Bob formerly worked at Harrison Steel Castings Company and later entered the U.S. Navy and served from 1960-1964. After returning home from the service he worked at Harrison Steel Castings Company until entering the law enforcement academy and became an Indiana State Trooper and relocated to Marion County, serving from 1968-1973. While in Indianapolis he worked at Allison Transmission plant. After moving back to Attica, he operated a TV repair business in Attica and also worked at Staley's south plant in Lafayette until his retirement in 2005. He also worked at Olins in Covington. Bob taught electronics at Ivy Tech College in Lafayette for a short time.
Bob was a former member of the EUB Church in Attica.
On March 26, 1965, Bob married Mary F. Smith in the Attica EUB Church.
He leaves behind his wife, Mary of 57 years along with a son, Kevin (Larisa) Davis, Jacksonville, FL and a daughter, Karmin (Mark) Gustus, Veedersburg; a brother, Michael "Mick" (Carole) Smith, Auburn, FL; four grandchildren, who referred to Grandpa as "Ha Ha" are Kishia (Dan) Linville, Keely Criswell, Jake Davis and Katie Davis; five great-grandchildren who referred to Grandpa as "Ha Ha" are Karson & Koby Wolf; Daxton, MacKenzy and Cody Linville. He was preceded in death by his parents and four half brothers and a half sister.
Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Thursday, January 6th, from 11:00 a.m. until service time at 1:00 p.m. with Chaplain Rick Fay officiating. Burial with military honors will be held in the Riverside Cemetery, Attica.
