Robert Long, 88, of Pendleton, IN, formerly of Lafayette IN, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Pendleton on Tues day, November 18, 2025.
Bob was born on October 22, 1937, in Crawfordsville, IN, to the late Carl and Thelma E. (Stevens) Long. Bob graduated from Crawfordsville High School on May 29, 1956. He later attended Wabash College in Crawfordsville. Bob was first married to Beverly Fulwider on July 22, 1957 in the Calvary Tabernacle in Crawfordsville. He later married Rose E. Gray on December 19, 1987 at First Assembly on God in Lafayette, IN.
Bob worked at Donnelly's in Crawfordsville for 40 years. While at Donnelly's he purchased the Pizza Cottage in Crawfordsville and ran it for several years. He was known for his Turtle Pie throughout Central Indiana. He was transferred to Flint Ink in Plano, TX in 1996, where he managed the company until his retirement. After retirement he worked at Denbery Oil as an executive chef for the employee dining room for 2 years. Then he and Rose managed the Oasis Cafe at the Assembly of God Campground in Waxahachie, TX.
Bob and Rose moved back to Lafayette, IN, to be closer to family. They took a position at Church Alive, in Lafayette, as pastors to the Seniors and Widows. After 36 years of marriage, Rose passed away on June 18, 2023. Bob also was a certified master diver and assisted the Lafayette Fire Department in diving.
Bob leaves behind his children, Terry (Vicki) Long of Lawrence, IN; Robin (Jerry) McKinney of Brownsburg, IN and Jeff (Viola) Long of Pendelton, IN. Also, his stepchildren, Billi Gray and Gwen Westphal of Lafayette, IN; Lisa (Greg) Hackett of Warrenton VA, Ron (Tina) Gray of Maryville TN, and Rick (Christina) Gray of Lakeland, FL. He is also survived by 24 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Rose Long; his brothers Don Long and Steve Osting; sister Phyllis Servies and his son in law Rick Westphal.
A memorial service will take place on December 6th , at 10:30 a.m. at Church Alive, 2401 S 100 W, Lafayette IN, with Pastor Owen Mason officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Church Alive.
