Williamsport - Robert Stephen "Steve" Ransom, 73, Williamsport, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at 9:10 a.m. following his failing health with heart disease.
Steve, as he was known to family and friends, was born in Williamsport, Indiana on March 29, 1948. He was the son of the late Bobby Elwood and Doris Eileen (Adams) Ransom. Steve was raised in Rainsville where he attended grade school and later graduated from Pine Village High School in 1967. He lived most of his life in Warren County and had been residing in rural Williamsport for the past 35 years.
Steve formerly worked at Eli Lilly in Lafayette for 34 years, retiring in 2007.
Steve was a member of the Attica Free Methodist Church. He was a member of the Pine Village Masonic Lodge # 315 F. & A.M. He formerly raised horses. As a result of his love for horses, Steve was a 4-H leader in Warren County and was in charge of the horse and pony show. He was a 4-H leader of the Washington Wizzes. Steve was also an avid race car fan. In his early years he helped build and sponsor stock cars for his son, Jim to race. His son continues raising stock cars today. Steve also enjoyed farming, especially bailing hay. In his pastime Steve loved to watch his grandchildren and great-grandchildren excel in sports. When he wasn't watching his family in sports or spending time watching racing he enjoyed his leisure time at Sugar Mill and Racoon Lakes or attending auctions.
On September 7, 1969, Steve married Joyce Miller in Independence.
Steve leaves behind his wife, Joyce of 52 years along with a daughter, Cassie (companion-Ryan Nolte) Jasper, West Lafayette; a son, Jim Ransom, Williamsport; four grandchildren, Ashley (Brennen) Simonton, 1st Class Petty Officer, Codey Jasper, US Navy; Emma (companion - Tristian Reece) Ransom and Kloey Ransom; three great-grandchildren, Lily and twins, Laken and Logan; four siblings, Charlene (Joe) Dillman, Mark (Diane) Ransom, John (Joyce) Ransom and Terry (companion-Josie Thomas) Ransom, all of Rainsville; a special uncle, Terry (Carolyn) Ransom, Attica. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Tuesday, November 2nd from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. with a Masonic Service at 8:00 p.m. by the Pine Village Lodge # 315 F. & A.M.  Funeral Services will be held at the Attica Free Methodist Church, 301 N. Sixth St., Attica, on Wednesday, November 3rd at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jerry Badgley officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland Cemetery, Williamsport. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
