Attica - Robert "Bob" D. Swank, 85, Attica, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at 7:44 a.m.
Bob, as he was known to family and friends, was born at home in Attica, Indiana on March 26, 1935. He was the son of the late John Thomas and Velma Mae (Philpot) Swank. He was a life resident of Attica, graduating from Attica High School.
Bob formerly worked at ALCOA, Harrison Steel Castings Company, Bob Johnson's Garage, Wilbur Leath Farms and C & D Batteries. He was a Supervisor at C & D Batteries, working there for 35 years and retired in 1997.
Bob enjoyed woodworking and during the summer you could find him out on his front porch swing watching and waving to passerbys. He especially enjoyed time spent with his family. He was a 50 year member of the Fountain Lodge # 60 of Covington. Bob also enjoyed and followed Purdue University sports.
Bob married Margaret J. Johnson in Attica on October 16, 1953. Margaret preceded Bob in death on July 9, 2013.
Bob leaves behind four children, Steve Swank, Attica; Susan (Robert) Smith, Lafayette; Carol Swank, Attica and Scott (Tasha) Swank, Williamsport; five grandchildren, Stacy (Kevin) Umlauf, Lafayette; Megan (Lee) Sweet, Lafayette; Michael (Erin) Smith, Jeffersonville, IN; Kaelee and Kyle Swank, both of Williamsport; five great-grandchildren, Henry & Hannah Umlauf; Cadence & Bryson Sweet and Emily Smith. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and five brothers, William, John, Chester, Marvin and Thomas Swank.
Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Wednesday, March 17th, from 11:00 a.m. until the Masonic Memorial Service at 1:00 p.m. followed by the Celebration of Bob's Life at 1:15 p.m. with Pastor Terry Goodwin officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery, Attica. Memorial contributions may be made to the Warren Community Foundation (in memo-A Mother's Love Cancer Support Fund). Visitors are encouraged to wear face masks and keep social distancing.
