Williamsport - Robert Louis Whistler Sr.,  82, Williamsport, passed away unexpectedly at his residence on Friday, October 11, 2024.
Robert was born in the Maris Hospital in  Williamsport, Indiana on August 25, 1942.  He was the son of the late Edgar L. "Pete" and Helen Maxine (Jones) Whistler.  Robert was a life resident of Warren County, graduating from Ambia High School in 1961.
Robert farmed all of his life in the Prairie and Pine Townships.  Following graduation from high school, Robert enlisted in the Indiana National Guard and served from 1963-1969.
Robert was a member of the Locust Grove United Methodist Church and regularly attended the Judyville United Methodist Church.  Robert was serving as Commander of the Boswell American Legion Post # 467 and was a member of the 40 & 8 in Morocco.  He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting when able.  He always enjoyed the time spent visiting with his friends.
Robert was married to Frances Kay Wilson until their divorce in 1994.
Robert leaves behind three sons, Robert L. (LeeAnne) Whistler Jr., Monticello; David Anthony Whistler, Ambia and Shawn Whistler, Indianapolis; his companion, Sue Cronk, Williamsport; two sisters, Linda Sears, Minneapolis area, MN and Susan (Dick) Abel, San Diego, CA; a brother, Ronald (Cindy) Whistler, Lafayette; a granddaughter, Assia Whistler, Logansport.  He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Aubrey Whistler; a sister, Bonnie Smith; two nephews, Matthew Whistler and Jeff Clawson and his parents.
Friends may gather at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Friday, October 18th, from 11:00 a.m. until the Poppy memorial service by the 40 & 8 at 1:00 p.m., followed by the memorial service with Pastor Brenda McIntosh officiating.  Inurnment, with military honors, will follow in the Locust Grove Cemetery, near Ambia.
