Attica - Rose Aileen Hollis, 71, of West Lafayette, died at 7:45 p.m on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at her sister's residence with family by her side.
Rose was born on February 20, 1951 in Williamsport. She was the daughter of the late Ivan Harold and Mary Louise (Larson) Hollis. She grew up in Warren County and graduated from Pine Village High School in 1969. She then earned her BS from Ball State University and later her Masters from Indiana State University. She worked as a Speech & Hearing Therapist for the Warren County MSD, mainly focused at Warren Central Elementary & Seeger High School. She also worked for a few years for the Attica School System. She retired in 2009 after over 34 years of service, helping children with Speech Therapy.
Rose loved to read and sew. She was an excellent dancer and had won several awards dancing with the Arthur Murray Dance Studio. She was always looking to help children, both with her time as well as donating clothing to those in need. Recently she had enjoyed traveling with her sister.
Survivors include her siblings, Betty (Bill) Keller, Lafayette, William (Shirley) Hollis, Otterbein, Kathy (Marvin) Overshiner, Lafayette, Phyllis (the late Larry) Byers, West Lafayette, Harold (Lisa) Hollis, Attica and Patricia Ann Hollis, Lafayette; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Marilyn Larson; nephew, Randy Sturgeon, niece, Diane Sturgeon; and a great-niece, Valerie McIntosh.
Visitation will be held at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Friday, April 1, from 11:00 a.m until the memorial service at 1:00 p.m. with Brenda McIntosh officiating. Burial of ashes will follow at the Rainsville Cemetery, Rainsville. Contributions may be made to the Food Finders Food Bank, Lafayette.
