Williamsport - Ruby Kathleen (Barnes) Craven, 82, Williamsport, passed away at the home of her daughter in Attica, with her daughter at her side , on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at 9:45 a.m..
Ruby was born in Hammond, Indiana on October 5, 1939. She was the daughter of the late Willard E. and Edith (Pearl) Barnes. Ruby was raised in Black Oak, in Lake County, Indiana, graduating from Calumet High School in 1957. In 1969 she moved to Williamsport where she worked as a bartender and waitress for the Attica Hotel and Our Place Restaurant in Williamsport.
While living in Lake County, Ruby attended the St. Ann Catholic Church in Black Oak. She was an avid quilter and enjoyed gardening,.
Ruby was formerly married to George Fredrick Craven on September 6, 1958 in the St. Ann Catholic Church in Black Oak, IN. George preceded Ruby in death.
Ruby leaves behind four children, Kathy (Brian) Jarvis, Attica; Diane (companion-Mike Odore) Thompson, Rossville, IN; Douglas Craven, Williamsport and Matthew (Aimee) Craven, Odon, IN; a sister, Charlotte Mansavage, Valparaiso, IN; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 8 sisters.
A memorial gathering will be held at the American Legion Post # 52, 122 W. Mill St., Attica, on Sunday, September 25th 2:00-5:00 pm.
