Ruth E. Rice

Williamsport - Ruth Evelyn (Lister) Rice, 94, Williamsport, passed away quietly in the Ascension St. Vincent Williamsport Hospital, on Saturday, December 27, 2025 at 3:14 a.m. with her family by her side.
Ruth was born at home in Attica, Indiana on December 23, 1931.  She was the daughter of the late Charles William and Mary Zelma (Jenkins) Lister.  Ruth was raised and educated in Attica, moving to Williamsport in 1995.
Ruth worked as a dismantler at Radio Material Corp. in Attica for 18 years.
She was a life member of the V.F.W. Post # 3318 and American Legion Post # 52 of Attica.  She enjoyed playing bingo.  She was a former member of the Church of the Nazarene and had been attending His Mission Church in Williamsport.
Ruth married Herbert Laverne Rice on February 15, 1956 in Attica.  Herb preceded her in death on May 30, 1996.
Ruth leaves behind seven daughters, Rebecca (Gene) Bingham, Somerset, KY; Lorna (Patrick) Conover, Lafayette; Peggy Sue (Jesus) Terrazas, Whiting, IN; Edna (Barry) Wesley, Science Hill, KY; Emma Carr, Lafayette; Betty (Rick) Rothrock, Williamsport; and Dorothea (Fred) Roarks, Williamsport; a step son, Boston Laverne "Butch" (Linda) Pritchett, Otterbein; 23 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren and 13 great great-grandchildren.  Ruth was preceded in death by a son, Herbert Laverne Rice, Jr.; a step-daughter, Rebeca Slavens; four sisters, Anna Ellen Butler, Maxine Knipe, Barbara Johnson and  infant Myrtle Fern Lister; seven brothers, Everett, Ernest, Wilbur, John, Charles, Robert and Luraine Lister.
Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Saturday, January 3rd from 1:00 p.m. until the memorial service time at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor David Adams officiating.  Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Riverside Cemetery, Attica.
