Attica - Sharon Sue (Thomas) Craft, 76, Attica, passed away quietly at her home, with family by her side, on Monday, May 31, 2021 at 6:50 p.m. following her failing health.
Sue, as she was known to family and friends, was born in Danville, Illinois on Friday, October 13, 1944. She was the daughter of the late Delmar and Elizabeth (Silver) Thomas. Sue spent her early years in Hoopeston, IL and later Williamsport before moving to Attica as a youth. She graduated from Attica High School in 1962 and went on to receive her beautician's license from Rudae's Beauty College in Lafayette in 1963.
Sue did her internship with France Rose Beauty Shop in Attica and later opened Sue's Beauty Shop in Attica and worked there or over 50 years before retiring. During this time she went on to help her husband operate Craft's Appliance Store in Attica along with operating three separate antique shops and operating a travel agency called Sugar Creek Travel. She had a passion for the City of Attica and along with her husband received an award issued by Lt. Governor, Becky Skillman in 2009 for Historic Restoration in Downtown Attica. She was a retired member of the Psi Iota Xi Sorority in Attica along with being a member of Main Street Attica and the Attica Retail Merchants Association. She enjoyed attending antique sales, flea markets and auctions in her free time. She very much enjoyed traveling and traveled throughout the world and to Europe on several occasions. She had been baptized in the Attica Christian Church.
On June 24, 1962, Sue married her sweetheart, William "Bill" D. Craft in the old Attica Christian Church. She leaves behind her husband and life partner of nearly 59 years along with two children, Lisa (Mike) Jordan and Brian (Rachael) Craft, both of Attica; seven grandchildren, Zachary Jordan, Zoe Jordan, Brittany (Larry) Jones, Winston (Nathalie) Craft, Spencer Craft, Katelynn Driver and Cullen Driver; three great-grandchildren, Reagan Craft, Gabriel Jones and Lawrence Jones II; two sisters, Peggy Whitlow and Pat Nern, both of Pine Village. She was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Kaya; a brother, Glenn Thomas and two sisters, Ada Webb and Judy Waldron.
Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Sunday, June 6th, from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. Services will be held at the funeral home on Monday, June 7th, at 2:00 p.m. with Mark Mason officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery, Attica. Memorial contributions may be made to the Attica Community Foundation or Paws 'n Claws Animal Shelter.
