Fairbanks, IN - Tamara Helen Caroline Mitman, 61, of Fairbanks, IN, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 6, 2021.
Tamara was born in Crawfordsville, IN on July 9, 1960. She was born into a large family of late Oliver Benson and Ursula E. (Post) Mitman.
Tamara started her college experience at Simon's Rock, in Great Barrington, MA and graduated with a BA from Indiana University. After one year of teaching she moved to Chicago where she spent many years with Harris Bank, having attained the position of Vice President of the business servicing loan team. She later moved to Indianapolis and more recently to Fairbanks, IN.
Tamara had a generous and loving spirit that motivated her to be active in organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, the Jaycees, the Humane Society of Indianapolis, the Eitelijorg Museum and the Daffodil Society to name a few. Her interests were many including gardening, travel, biking, birding and a general curiosity of life which was reflected in her eclectic reading material. Her faith was strong and we wish she could have stayed longer.
She leaves behind brothers, Bert (Annie Burns) Mitman, Jay (Vickie) Mitman, Wilton (Nancy) Mitman and Matthias (Susan Elliott) Mitman; sisters, Lucy Beth May, Cynthia (Mark) Schall, Andrea (Loper) Mitman and Betsy (Scott) Boleman; a very dear friend, Sue Garza; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Eric Mitman and a sister, Tommilou Flanigon.
A celebration of Tamara's life will be held at the Maus Funeral Home, Hillsboro, IN on Wednesday, September 22nd with a gathering held from 12:30 p.m. until the memorial service time at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Tim Lyons officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Hilllsboro. Memorial contributions may be made to the Indianapolis Humane Society.
