Attica - Theresa Ann (Black) Shultz, 67, Attica, had been in failing health for a few years and passed away unexpectedly in her home after her heart failed on Friday, August 11, 2023 at 11:21 p.m.
Theresa was born in Crawfordsville, Indiana on July 6, 1956. She was the daughter of the late Ernest Lee and Frances Irene (Walker) Black. Theresa was raised in rural Attica and graduated from Attica High School in 1974. She resided at her southeast Attica home for the past 27 years.
Theresa trained and graduated from Rudae's Beauty Academy in Lafayette. Then worked at BoRics Hair Salon in Lafayette. She then operated a beauty shop out of her home. She later worked as a cashier at Payless in Lafayette for ten years and transitioned to a bank teller at various banks in Lafayette and Attica. After spending her early career outside the home, Theresa chose to become a stay-at-home grandma to care for her disabled granddaughter, Lea.
She was an active member of CASA in Fountain County and a former member of the Attica Christian Church. She enjoyed a variety of hobbies and interests which included cutting hair, painting nails, doing makeup, watching birds and butterflies, Ford Mustangs, riding motorcycles, attending monster truck shows, watching her favorite movies, listening to country music, collecting Avon and jewelry, coloring, and especially taking care of her babies and grandchildren. She also enjoyed raising cocker spaniels.
On July 14, 1979, Theresa married Dennis A. Shultz in the Attica Free Methodist Church.
She leaves behind her husband, Dennis of 44 years along with a son, Dennis G. Shultz, Attica and a daughter, Angela Shultz, Lafayette; a sister, Connie (Ron) Beedle, Attica and a brother, Ernest (Angela) Black, Attica; five grandchildren, Lea, Chloe, Penny, Nick and Bjorn.
Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Thursday, August 17th from 11:00 a.m. until service time at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Duane Mycroft officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery, Attica. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mosaic Foundation.
