Thomas
Johnson
d. Dec 11, 2025
Kankakee
Thomas Johnson, 81, of Kankakee, Illinois, the epitome of a true family man, passed away on December 11, 2025.
Born in Attica, Indiana, to the late Lee Robert and Helen Johnson, Thomas was hardworking and forever young-at-heart; with a passion for toys, coins, and automobiles. He served in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1967, stationed overseas and reaching the rank of E-6. In Kankakee, Thomas was a longtime member and supporter of St. Patrick Church, and owner-operator of AC Forms Inc. for 35 years.
Thomas is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Patricia (Newman) Johnson. They were married in May 1969 and built a life filled with love and laughs.
His legacy lives on through his children and their partners: Kimberly Zaccone and her partner Tom Castro, Danette Johnson and her husband Mark Switzer, Darren Johnson, Jeffery and his wife Erica (Simmons) Johnson, Samantha and her husband Kyle Johnson. The sparkle in his eyes was always brightest when he was with his grandchildren: Alyssa, Nick, Brooke, and Max Zaccone; Kylie, Jax, and Lilliann Johnson; and his great-grandchildren, Paxton and Alexander Zaccone.
Thomas devoted his life to providing for his family, offering steady support, strength, love, and humor. While his family grieves his loss, they take comfort in knowing he is at peace and that his spirit will live on in the countless memories they shared. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A service will be held at St. Patrick Church, 428 S. Indiana Ave., Kankakee, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 20th. A visitation will follow at Jensen Funeral home, 3639 E. State Rt. 17, Kankakee, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to a charity of your choice, a gesture that reflects Thomas's lifelong generosity and kindness.
